3rd South Dakota Local Foods Conference

November 15-16, 2013 | Rapid City, SD

 

Registration is now open for the SD Local Foods Conference. It will be held in Rapid City on Nov 15-16 at the Adoba Eco Hotel.

 

Day 1 will include many production-oriented topics such as Seeds, Supplies and Equipment for Specialty Producers; Beekeeping; Growing Hops; two sessions on grapes (starting a vineyard and the latest research update); and Natural Pest Control. There will also be a tour of Battle Creek Gardens near Hermosa followed by an SDSPA business meeting and dinner (on your own) at Prairie Berry Winery.

 

Saturday starts off with Katie Pinke, a marketing and communications strategist from North Dakota. Katie has worked for the ND Dept of Ag and now is a private consultant on a variety of food and farm issues – including many local foods projects in North Dakota.Saturday will also include breakout sessions on many topics. During lunch we’ll have an open discussion on the Local Foods scene in South Dakota and where we go from here.
