An environmental assessment (EA) has been prepared to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction and operation of a crude oil pipeline across privately owned lands encumbered by wetland easements managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Dakota Access, LLC proposes to construct and operate the Dakota Access Pipeline Project (Project). The proposed Project would connect the Bakken and Three Forks crude oil production areas in North Dakota to existing infrastructure in Illinois. In North Dakota, the Project crosses wetland easements in the Lostwood Wetland Management District and in South Dakota it crosses wetland easements in the Sand Lake and Madison Wetland Management Districts.  Initially, the pipeline is 24 inches in diameter and as it moves south across the Dakotas, it increases to 30 inches where it crosses these easements.

The public is encouraged to provide comments on the draft environmental assessment which is available for viewing at either of these websites.
