Whether data centers, carbon pipelines, industrial dairy projects, or some other large proposal of “economic development”, many rural people are starting to question the direction our counties are headed. Dakota Rural Action has supported communities across the state in participating in local decision-making to speak up for the projects that we want to see and the protections we need for our people, land, and resources when projects do come in. As we move from key wins and progress in the 2026 legislative session, we need to build momentum and grassroots power to build toward the development and investments that South Dakotans need. This work will take skills, relationships, and strategy. On April 25, DRA will host a community organizing training to bring people together across issues to launch that work, ahead of an important midterm election and key “off-season” before the next legislative session.
The training will be at the Brookings Public Library on the second floor in the Cooper Room from 10:00am to 2:30pm. Lunch will be provided and no cost to attend. Please register to save your seat and share the event with your network!
