Internship/Apprenticeship opportunities:

Serendipity Farmstead offers a seasonal internship program on our homestead farm/ranch operation. Our farm uses organic and regenerative practices with a goal to use as little outside inputs as possible.  The internship requires a full time commitment to the farm starting early May thru October, working 5-6  days a week.

On the farm side, we are currently growing in a small food forest and a tropical greenhouse.  This season we are adding a 30×60 high tunnel and possibly a field crop plot.

We also raise yak, hogs, chickens, turkeys, sheep and goats and keep horses and llamas.  Operations include daily care for the animals, moving animals through rotational grazing paddocks, training yaks, llamas and horses and processing poultry.

The internship offers a hands-on full immersion into the daily rhythm and practical art of diverse homestead farming. The intern will become proficient in animal husbandry, grazing management, manure management, compost making, natural and holistic health care for livestock, breeding, and calf care.  Additionally, skills in planting, growing, weed and pest control techniques and harvesting will be honed.

There will also be some opportunity to work with the draft horses, yaks and llamas and learn the basics of horsemanship, harnessing, safety, and ground driving as you work with these animals.

Serendipity Farmstead seeks individuals who are serious about pursuing a path in agriculture, and willing to work hard to gain practical skills and knowledge through our full immersion, working-farm, internship program. Some prior farming experience and comfortability around large animals is preferred. The farm offers simple housing, food and meals, and optional paid  work to supplement your cost of living during this educational pursuit.

Contact Melissa or Scott at SerendipityFarmstead@gmail.com to apply for our 2022 internship.
