ACTION ALERT
Call Senators Thune and Johnson NOW to say no to the Keystone XL amendment
Sen. Hoeven, R-ND, has just introduced an amendment to the Senate budget resolution promoting the Keystone XL pipeline and a vote is expected today.
The non-binding amendment, S.AMDT. 494, would not affect the State Department’s review process but basically promotes Keystone XL as a positive project because it will encourage growth in “manufacturing, oil and gas production, and refining.” As usual, it neglects to recognize the hazards to both landowners and the environment and that endless growth in these sectors is not sustainable. It is a message bill, but it is a message that needs to be stopped.
Please call your Senators as soon as possible (today if you can) to let them know you do NOT support Sen. Hoeven’s amendment #494 to promote Keystone XL. If each of their offices get 20-30 phone calls, they will know we mean business. After you call, please report your conversation here so we can keep track of our calls.
