Open House to Show Benefits & Uses of Local Solar Energy

Jamie and Ann Fisk, long-time residents of Tulare, South Dakota are opening their house to the public for the first in a series of energy tours to be held around the state. The open house tour will be held Saturday, September 7, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a talk by Mr. Fisk at 1:30 pm.

 

Sponsored by Dakota Rural Action and the South Dakota Energy Fairness Initiative, the energy tours are designed to raise awareness of the benefits of solar energy, and the growing accessibility of the technology.

 

The Tulare Solar Energy Tour will be held at the home of Jamie and Ann Fisk, who have installed solar panels and a solar hot water heater system on their property. The public is invited to look at the panels, the system, and Mr. Fisk will be on hand to talk about the output and logistics of putting up a solar panel system. There will also be information about companies in South Dakota which can be contacted for more information about installing a system.

Dakota Rural Action launched the South Dakota Energy Fairness Initiative on August 28. It is a push for a fair price for South Dakotans producing energy for their neighbors and the state through small solar and wind installations.
