Public comments are now being accepted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on the draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for a proposed uranium mine by Canadian company, Powertech, Inc in the Southern Black Hills.

Dakota Rural Action is concerned about the proposed Dewey-Burdock in-situ uranium mining operation near Edgemont, SD because of the unprecedented consumption of water and possible contamination that would affect South Dakota agriculture, tourism, and public health.
