Chicken Processing Workshop with Mayborn Acres

Join us to learn all you need to know about Chicken Processing from Dakota Rural Action’s own Chicken Expert Jamie Boley of Mayborn Acres. In this workshop, Jamie will explain, demonstrate, and teach every component of chicken processing, from slaughter, evisceration, to butcher.
Become a more educated eater. To understand the animal’s end-of-life can help appreciate its life and the nourishment it offers to its consumer, appreciate farming practices that give the animal its best life, and help educate other animal eaters that we know! Jamie has his birds solely on pasture in movable tractors, which allows his birds the activity and diet that nature intended. His care for the bird from hatch to harvest is an example of what an ecologically sound food system should include.
The meat processed in the workshop will be available for purchase. Additional chicken meat will be available for purchase as well!
Mayborn Acres is just outside of Parker, a 30-min drive from Sioux Falls.
Processing Workshop will begin at 9:00am and be completed by noon!
